Application

If you are unable to come to one of Legal Aid’s area offices, the Legal Aid Commission accepts applications that are mailed in or dropped off.

You can call the Area Office nearest you and they will mail you an application form to fill in and return. If you have access to a computer and printer you can download a copy of the application checklist (20 KB) along with the fillable PDF application form (1 MB) or you can submit an online application.

The form can be opened in Acrobat Reader. If you do not have this free program on your computer you can download a copy.

The form is an interactive pdf form so you can fill it in on your computer. Once you have completed filling it in, save it to your computer, print it out, sign it, and send it to the Legal Aid Area Office nearest to where you live.

You can also print out the blank form, fill it in by hand, sign it, and then send it to the Legal Aid Area Office nearest to where you live.

You cannot submit the application electronically.

The mailing address and phone numbers of all Legal Aid’s Area Offices can be found here.

If you are a recipient of Income Support from the Department of Advanced Education and Skills you also need to fill in and sign a consent form which allows  the Department of Advanced Education and Skills   to confirm to Legal Aid your Income Support status.

It is important that if you are sending in your application that you attach copies of the financial documents which prove the amounts you are showing for income, expenses, assets, and liabilities. If you are unsure what documents are required call the Legal Aid Area Office to which you will be making your application. See Contact Us.
